Hugh White graduated with a BVSc from the University of Sydney. He spent the first 35 years of his professional career in rural practice in a large regional city in New South Wales. He gained a research based Masters’ degree in equine reproduction and became a Member of the Australian College of Veterinary Scientists in equine medicine. 10 years ago he was appointed Director of the Centre for Veterinary Education at the University of Sydney.
Despite his early equine interests, mixed practice demanded that he maintain a broad skill set across both companion and production animals, which led to his interest in continuing veterinary education. As the Director of the CVE, he has overseen the expansion of both short and long online courses outside Australia through the well-known Distance Education programs and shorter TimeOnline courses. One of the most significant developments has been the development of a very strong partnership with ISFM through the expansion of the Feline Medicine DE course from Australasia into the UK, Europe and North America.
