David C Tollon is a graduate of the Ohio State University veterinary school, and has been involved in private practice and as a veterinary technology instructor for the past 35 years. He has partnered in several veterinary hospitals during his career and is currently the co-owner of Oakhurst Veterinary Hospital in Seminole, FL. He also is Professor and past Director of the veterinary technology program at St. Petersburg College in St. Petersburg, FL. As a result of these experiences, he has learned the extreme importance of the entire veterinary heathcare team in veterinary medicine.
An early adopter of distance education within the profession, he participated in development of the first online AVMA accredited Veterinary Technician program in the country. He started VetMedTeam to offer online education for all levels within the veterinary community and its membership has now grown to over 100,000. VetMedTeam offers both free sponsored courses along with fee-based instructor-led courses.
More recently, he purchased VetICE, LLC, and transformed it to the non-profit organisation VetMedAcademy (VMA), a student-centric site whose international mission is to create and/or curate, review, and annotate relevant and engaging instructional content and case material. Furthermore, VMA facilitates peer-reviewed publication and sharing of materials that encourage adoption of the most interactive styles of instruction by faculty.
