Emma van Rooijen, who grew up in the Netherlands, graduated from a bachelor degree in ‘Veterinary Medicine’ at the University of Utrecht in 2016 and is currently finishing a master degree in ‘Applied Animal Behaviour and Animal Welfare’ at the University of Edinburgh in Scotland. At the University of Edinburgh she also works as the facilitator of the monthly Student Council Meetings. She has recently started working for the World Small Animal Veterinary Association (WSAVA) as the Administrative Assistant as well as continuing her studies. Besides her studies, Emma has volunteered for the International Veterinary Students’ Association (IVSA) for over six years. After being involved in IVSA locally, she was the President of IVSA globally in 2014-2015, the Secretary General in 2015-2016, a member of the Standing Committee on Wellness (SCoW) from 2016 onwards and was awarded Honorary Life Membership in July 2017.
