A Floridian born and raised, and now a fully-fledged Kiwi immigrant with a long pathway to becoming a qualified Veterinarian at Massey University in New Zealand. I started volunteering at a small animal clinic in my home town when I was 11, and then completed on-the-job training to become a veterinary technician while attending undergraduate school at the University of Florida. I have held a range of other jobs, including: film projectionist, box office manager for three concert venues, a bouncer, Genetic Development Co-ordinator at a dairy cattle company, sales manager for a veterinary consumables business, and even an entrepreneurial side-line. Now, at 30, I have finally qualified as a veterinarian. While it was a convoluted pathway to get here, I wouldn’t have changed a thing as every role contributed to making me who I have become today.
