Bev graduated from the Royal Veterinary College in 2009 with an intercalated degree in Veterinary Conservation Medicine from the University of Liverpool. Upon graduation she worked with the Royal Veterinary College’s E-media team, and also for WikiVet, as the WikiMaster during which time she developed an interactive learning resource within the site; WikiQuiz, with RCVS Trust funding.
She also spent time working in East Africa as part of the development of a novel ‘International Development’ module within the undergraduate curriculum at RVC, teaching vet students both in the UK and in East Africa about their role as ‘global citizens’. She spent 3 years in small animal and exotics practice before moving into full time wildlife and exotics work as the Veterinary Officer at RSPCA Stapeley Grange Wildlife Centre and Cattery, working with a wide range of British wildlife and domestic species.
She is an Honorary Lecturer at the University of Liverpool, and runs their clinical exotics and wildlife teaching as well as lecturing both within the curriculum and for external CPD courses on exotics and wildlife. She holds the RCVS Certificate in Advanced Veterinary Practice in Zoological Medicine and is an RCVS Advanced practitioner in Zoological Medicine and sits on the council and website development committee for the British Veterinary Zoological Society (BVZS). She is passionate about veterinary education, with a particular interest in innovative teaching methods, and is the CEO of the WikiVet Trading Company. She is also the Chair of the WikiVet Live! 2018 Online Conference Organisational Committee.
